SPREAD THE WORD

This Eco-focus is about spreading the word of caring for our environments far and wide! Not only to the children in your centre but also to family, friends and the community. We want you to also celebrate what you have achieved as an EcoMarines centre!

CHALLENGE: GO GREEN FOR ECOMARINES

EQUIPMENT

  • Emails or flyers for parents about dress up days

  • Coin collection container

TIME NEEDED

  • 1 day set aside for the dress up day

  • 10 to 20 minutes per extra activity throughout the day

HOW IT WORKS

STEP 1.

Pick a date during the week during September to host your Go Green for EcoMarines dress up day! For this day, your whole centre can dress up in green and bring in a gold coin donation to be put towards EcoMarines foundation or your own centre's eco-projects.

STEP 2.

Spread the word! During the lead up to your Go Green for EcoMarines day, make sure to promote the day to your centre and families.

STEP 3.

Host your Go Green for EcoMarines day! You can even do the activities below with your kids during the day to spread the word further!

Let us know how your centre helped spread the word of EcoMarines in one sentence and we would love any photos if you have any. Your centre could go in draw to win a visit from some very special EcoMarines Ambassadors and EcoMarines staff, plus some EcoMarines merhcandise too!

SUSTAINABLE CENTRES NOMINATIONS

Is your centre super duper sustainable? Does your centre community go above an beyond to care for our environment and help create a sustainable future for our wildlife and ecosystems? Then we want to know about it!

We are looking to showcase Early Learning Centres who spread the word of the EcoMarines and foster a community of environmental heroes. Let us know in a few sentences what your centre does to be environmentally friendly below. You centre could go in the draw to win a special prize AND win a special award at our end-of-year celebration: The Wave.

ACTIVITIES TO HELP SPREAD THE WORD

MAKE AN ECOMARINES PLEDGE TREE

A pledge tree is a great way to get kids thinking of sustainable solutions!

After, during or before your Go Green for EcoMarines celebrations, you can get children to think of ways they and their families can help the environment.

Here are some ideas to get started:

  • Use a real tree and have the kids make a pledge on a piece of paper that is shaped like a leaf, or

  • Make a big paper tree to display on a wall and post pledges on pieces of paper (or real leaves) to add to the tree.

  • Add some pictures of marine and wild life they are helping to protect.
